Harvey Elliott provided his verdict on Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat against Salzburg in our fourth pre-season friendly.
“They showed that they are a great team [Salzburg] – all credit to them, it’s a great test for us. Good steps, negatives we need to reflect on but positives as well.
“Our main concern today was our finishing – at least we created the chances but hopefully we can reflect and work on it for the weekend when it matters. Spirits are high – there are a lot of positives to take from tonight.”
He then added: “It’s been great this week – there is a lot of time to focus and reflect. It’s been a great week. The support we’ve received has been brilliant – it’s nice to see how many fans we have all around the world in different countries.
“It’s been a great camp, high intensity, overall it’s been an amazing pre-season so far.”
Salzburg have already started their season and looked sharp on defence tonight.
It was indeed a great test and workout for the team, who went up against an organised team and could have scored a few goals if not for some terrible finishing.
The Reds will face Man City up next in the Community Shield final.
