Paul Robinson has claimed Liverpool “have been exposed” in their first three games of the Premier League campaign.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suggested the Reds’ high defensive line is a problem.
Jurgen Klopp’s side lost 2-1 to Man United on Monday (22 August).
The Reds conceded first for the seventh successive game at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford added United’s second in a goal that was not dissimilar to the one scored by Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha a week earlier.
When asked by Football Insider if Liverpool’s high line was an issue that needs to be addressed, Robinson said: “That high line has been exposed in the first few games of the season.
“They have not clicked in to top gear yet Liverpool. It is not just the back four though. It is all over the pitch.
“Teams know Liverpool are going to play this high line. They have played it for a long time now and you can get at them.
“Teams are not afraid to invite Liverpool onto them and then hit them on the counter attack. They are quite happy to play that football at home and away.
“Jurgen Klopp’s system is being exposed. They have been caught out a few times this season. I cannot see it carrying on though. They have too much quality. I’m sure they’ll sort it out,”
