Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel says his side have had to stop a string of defensive errors that have seen the European champions concede 11 goals in their last three home games, including Wednesday’s 4-2 loss to Arsenal.
Tuchel told reporters: “This number of mistakes is impossible and I haven’t seen it in any other game but I see it now in our consecutive games and it has to stop” .
The German said he thought Chelsea had overcome a weak defense that contributed to the 4-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge to Brentford and the 3-1 home defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League earlier next month more solid performances lately.
Tuchel also lamented the injury-time penalty when Cesar Azpilicueta fouled Bukayo Saka, who scored to seal the 4-2 win.
Chelsea are in third place with 62 points after playing one game less than both Spurs and Arsenal and are still looking for a Champions League spot next season.
