Chelsea expects to make several signings this summer, with eight possible new defenders on their shopping list alone.
Because Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are both leaving the club, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is focusing on the defensive unit. He will, though, most likely seek to bolster his midfield and offense.
There are also doubts regarding Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, two players that Barcelona is interested in signing and who seem to be excited about the prospect of heading to Camp Nou.
Both Spaniards might still leave Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea would have to rebuild their damaged backline in that scenario.
According to The Telegraph, eight different players have been considered as possible replacements for the departing defenders, and the club is hopeful that it will be able to make a move for one of them as soon as the transfer window opens on June 10 – assuming the club’s sale is completed as expected.
The long-term goal is Their priority is to purchase Jules Kounde. Last season, he was on the verge of being moved from Sevilla to another team, but the deal fell through at the last minute.
The France international, who is 23 years old and plays for the Blues, is unlikely to go this time, and he seems to be the first of their defensive successors.
Josko Gvardiol, who plays for RB Leipzig and is a left-sided central defender who can also play left-back, has less experience but is highly respected.
The Blues are interested in signing the 20-year-old player, even though he is still more of a developing talent than an established one.
Villarreal’s Pau Torres and Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez have both been named as players Tuchel is interested in. In addition, four players whose names have yet to be revealed are said to be on the want list.
While the competition for all of these targets is likely, Chelsea will do everything possible to strengthen their defense throughout the summer, even though replacements are required.
