According to another prospective bidder for Valencia, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has made an offer to purchase the Spanish club.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich placed the club up for sale last month, but he will not get a dime from the sale as a result of a fine imposed by the United Kingdom government.
After being sanctioned by the European Union, the Russian businessman has also been compelled to take steps to preserve some of his assets, notably his £430 million yacht, Solaris.
However, Miguel Zorio, a Spanish businessman who is seeking to purchase Valencia with a €248 million (£207.8 million) bid, claims that the club’s current owner, Peter Lim, has stated that he has also received an offer from Abramovich, according to the Daily Mail.
‘Peter Lim has tried to sell the club in London for €250 million (£209.5m) and has not succeeded,’ Zorio said.
‘Lately, he has leaked to international media that he has two purchase offers, mine and that of the Russian oligarch of Chelsea.
‘And from here, I tell him that either he puts €50 million every year to compensate for the losses he generates or he sells to us. Whether he likes it or not.’
While Chelsea are no closer to completing their acquisition of the club from the Abramovich period, the four selected bidders have been granted an extension to make stronger bids in the meantime.
The first deadline for revised offers was Monday, but the Raine Group, a US merchant bank that is arranging the sale of the club, wants to give the bidders ‘a full and fair chance to thoroughly finish the contents of their proposals’ before the time is extended to Wednesday.
According to rumours published over the weekend, two parties, Todd Boehly and the Ricketts family, are planning to give Chelsea supporters a ‘golden share’ as part of their bid for the club.
Last week, the Ricketts family issued an eight-point commitment to Chelsea supporters in the aftermath of concerns from the club’s followers about the possibility of the family becoming owners.
As part of their commitment, the Ricketts family has said that Chelsea would never join a European Super League, and they have also guaranteed to invest in the club’s men’s and women’s teams to ensure that they continue to be successful.
Chelsea’s Champions League quarter-final loss to Real Madrid was seen by Boehly, who was in attendance at Stamford Bridge this past week.
