Darwin Nunez may struggle at first for Liverpool but there is “no doubt” he will be a success, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Nunez may initially find the Premier League difficult he will get plenty of chances with the likes of Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold providing the crosses.

As quoted by Liverpool Echo earlier this week (16 July), Alexander-Arnold insisted he will strike up a connection with the 23-year-old soon enough.

The Reds’ record signing, who moved from Benfica in a deal that could reach £85million this summer (2022), is yet to score for his new club in pre-season ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

“I can imagine Nunez might struggle in the first part of the season,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“But when he’s up to speed, he’ll score goals, there’s no doubt.

“When you’ve got Robertson, when you’ve Thiago, when you’ve got Trent Alexander-Arnold, you’ll get chances. You might miss a few, but you’ll definitely score a few.

“I think he’ll have no problem scoring goals, he’s proved he’s a natural finisher.

“But a lot of strikers come into the Premier League and it can take time to get used to it.

“If he has two months struggling to find the net and some poor performances then I’m sure nobody will panic and he’ll get the time he deserves.”

Nunez scored 47 times and provided 16 assists in 84 games across all competitions for Benfica.
