It is the first ‘serious’ match of the pre-season, so Xavi might want to field a more serious starting XI, although he could choose to continue his experiments. Here are his main options.
Xavi could try Andreas Christensen as a regular starter next season, and the game against Madrid might be the best opportunity to see if the pairs well with our other starting defenders.
In midfield, Xavi might go for the trio of Busquets, De Jong and Pedri, with the Dutchman looking set to continue at Barca.
As for the attack, Lewandowski should be ready to play from the start. Fati and Raphinha, who started the previous game, could play from the first minute again.
There are several players that have to prove themselves to Xavi – Pena, Eric Garcia, Balde and Nico. A start against a fierce rival could be a good test for them.
Kessie has been in top form this pre-season, and definitely deserves another chance to start.
In attack, Dembele and Aubameyang could play from the start after their impressive performance in the previous Clasico.
