Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-West-Ham striker suggested only the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo can handle the expectation that comes with such a price tag.
Speaking to club media (23 July), Jurgen Klopp suggested Nunez, 23, still has “work to do” in order to be a success at Anfield.

The Reds manager said everything has moved very quickly for the Uruguay international but he is fitting in well.
Nunez joined Liverpool from Benfica for a fee of around £67million.
The forward scored four goals in the Merseyside club’s pre-season friendly against RB Leipzig on Thursday (21 July).
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, McAvennie said: “Having that price tag on you, that’s for players like Messi and Ronaldo.
“Harry Maguire struggled to cope with £80million price tag, [Virgil] van Dijk cruised it. Some people can deal with it and some people can’t.

“I didn’t know much about Nunez until Liverpool were interested in him but I’m sure that Klopp has earned the right to get the respect to get it right.
“People are comparing him to [Sadio] Mane and they shouldn’t do that because they’re different kinds of players. It’s going to be hard for him for the first couple of weeks.“
