JUST IN: Sadio Mane beats Mo Salah to African Player of the Year award

Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has won the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.

Mane was competing against his ex-teammate Mohamed Salah and fellow Senegalese Edouard Mendy.

This year, Mane and Salah faced each other twice in major finals on the continent. Both times, Senegal defeated Egypt on penalties, so Mane was a logical choice.

This is the second time that Mane won the award – he also received one in 2019.
