Pundit issues verdict on Liverpool signing Thiago replacement after update today
Liverpool will not rush into the transfer market for a new midfielder despite an injury to Thiago Alcantara.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to COOLBAZE amid the latest on the midfielder’s fitness.
Thiago, 31, was forced off the field in the second half of the 2-2 draw against Fulham on Saturday (6 August).
Klopp on Thiago’s absence: “I read four to six weeks, I’d prefer four!”

Jurgen Klopp revealed on Friday (12 August), as quoted by James Pearce, that the midfielder could be out for up to six weeks.
Liverpool are also currently without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones, who are suffering injury problems of their own.
However, Kenny does not think the Reds will move to sign a new midfielder.
“It’s got to be the right player,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“We know Liverpool don’t rush into these signings. They like to get them right, just because Thiago might be out for four weeks or something, I don’t think they will.
“I don’t see them spending money on a player when they either haven’t done their homework or maybe aren’t 100% on whether he would be a good fit.
“It’s not a very Liverpool move, for me. It would be a surprise if they do. Anything can happen before the transfer window and it still doesn’t shut for a couple of weeks.
“We know Liverpool are keen on Jude Bellingham and I can see it happening at some point.”
Thiago, who is out of contract at Anfield in June 2024, last managed more than 20 league starts in the 2018-19 season.
Liverpool are next in action against Crystal Palace on Monday (15 August).
