Paul Robinson has claimed “there is every chance” Liverpool make a “surprise” midfielder signing before the window closes.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one pointed to the fact that the Reds “go about their business quietly” in the market.
Liverpool’s midfield has been widely criticised following a 2-1 defeat to Man United on Monday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently without Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain because of injury.
According to The Athletic‘s James Pearce (23 August), the Reds are resisting public pressure and will wait until next summer to sign a midfielder.
When asked by Football Insider if a U-turn could be in the offing, Robinson said: “I think there is every chance Liverpool will sign a midfielder.
“I’m sure the mice in the wheel behind the scenes at Liverpool are working very hard. I think they will look to bring that one, surprise signing in.
“You can see from Klopp’s interviews that he is not happy at the moment. The lack of options he has in his squad because of injuries is there for all to see. It is really taking its toll.
“I think they will be working hard to bring somebody in before the end of the window. They often go about their business quietly and then pull a rabbit out of the hat.
“I think it will happen again. I can see a midfielder coming in before the deadline.”
