Frank McAvennie claims Mohamed Salah could now play through the middle more reguarly for Liverpool following the arrival of Darwin Nunez.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said he has “no doubt” Nunez will spend most of his time at Anfield as the main centre-forward.
Speaking to ESPN (14 July), Jurgen Klopp insisted he wasn’t worried about recent criticism of the 23-year-old following his arrival from Benfica.

Klopp has said he “doesn’t doubt” the potential of the Uruguay international after footage of his miss in their pre-season game against Man United emerged on social media.
The manager insisted he is “completely calm” about helping the striker reach his full potential with the Anfield club.
McAvennie claims Salah’s defensive work goes under the radar at Liverpool and that Nunez’s arrival could allow him to move from the right of the front three into the centre.
When asked how he thought Nunez would fit into Klopp’s team, McAvennie told Football Insider: “He’ll probably take Mane’s place.
“[Luis] Diaz plays on the left, [Diogo] Jota plays on the left, he’ll be straight through the middle. I’ve got no doubt. He’ll relish that.
“Unless Klopp plays him off to the right and plays [Mohamed] Salah through the middle. People don’t realise Salah does a lot of work out there covering from Trent Alexander-Arnold, a lot of people don’t notice that.
“I’ve not got a problem with Nunez, I would think most of the time he’d be straight through the middle and a straight swap for Mane.“
