Manchester United suffered a disappointing defeat in the first half of their crucial Premier League game against Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

It wasn’t a good performance from Ten Hag’s men, and the manager wouldn’t be surprised with the outcome of the contest.

Brighton grabbed the lead in the 30th minute through Pascal Gross. The attacker tapped the ball home from close range after receiving a delightful square pass from Welbeck.

 

Things got even worse for United in the closing minutes of the first half as Gross managed to find the back of the net from a similar position yet again.

Ten Hag started the game without some of his key players due to match fitness and injury problems.

Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the players left out in the starting lineup as Ten Hag made it clear that the Portuguese star isn’t in a perfect physical shape to start the game.

 

However, Ten Hag’s decision to keep Ronaldo on the bench affected the team’s performance throughout the first 45 minutes.

 

United lacked the cutting edge in the final despite dominating possession for most part of the first half.
