Barca’s pursuit of Alonso is now complicated as Chelsea are not eager to let him go.
However, Henrique might just be a better replacement for the Spaniard. Here’s why:
Younger than Alonso
Henrique is just 24, whereas Alonso is already beyond 30. If Barca needs a player who’s young and has some future ahead of him, the Brazilian-born Spaniard is a great option.
His heat map for last season also shows that he’s a player who doesn’t shy from venturing into the final third just like Jordi Alba.
Barcelona can get Henrique for just €20m or even less. That’s not too far from what Chelsea wants for Alonso.
The Blaugrana could easily afford him when they activate more economic levers.
Henrique’s stats are quite impressive when you take a glance as a neutral. He makes 5.55 progressive carries per game, while completing 80% of his passes. He also attempts a lot of dribbles, completing at least 0.44 per game.
In terms of defending, the Monaco man records an impressive 1.88 interceptions and 1.99 tackles. He adds 1.44 clearances per game to those numbers.
