It is a little “worrying” that Liverpool have so far not disclosed the nature of Naby Keita’s latest injury issue.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.
Keita, 27, has not played at all this season and is one of a number of injury absences in midfield for Liverpool.
As quoted by the Liverpool ECHO last Tuesday, Jurgen Klopp revealed that the midfielder was “not ready” and that is not “100 per cent clear” what the problem is besides an unspecified muscular issue.
“There isn’t a great deal of info available on this one,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“We know it’s a soft tissue problem. Tests were still ongoing the last we heard. It only happened on the eve of the Man United game.
“The terminology wasn’t great from Jurgen Klopp. You are always worried when you don’t get a definitive answer straight away on these things.
“Sometimes the managers just don’t want to commit to anything. Hopefully, we’ll get some more on this one sometime soon.”
Keita has endured a litany of injuries since his arrival at Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2018.
He has missed a total of 62 matches due to various setbacks.
