Watford forward, Ismaila Sarr is believed by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano to be the “right fit” for Liverpool. Romano also feels that the Senegal international’s style of play is similar to that of former Reds star Sadio Mane.
Sarr has made 94 appearances for Watford across all competitions since joining from Rennes in 2019, tallying 25 goals and 19 assists.
He has played in two Premier League seasons so far, failing to help the Hornets avoid relegation on both occasions. In 22 league appearances last season, Sarr recorded five goals and two assists as Watford dropped to the Championship.
This summer, the forward has been heavily linked with a move away from Vicarage Road, with Manchester United and Leeds United also showing interest (as per the Express).
But Romano believes that Sarr could be the ideal replacement for Mane who the Reds lost to Bayern Munich this summer.
“Liverpool have followed him for years but have never made any proposals, Klopp’s focus is on other deals; Sarr can be a surprise from here to the end of the market.
“Liverpool could be the right fit for Sarr’s talents, as he is a similar style of player to his compatriot Sadio Mane, who had a great career at Anfield before moving to Bayern Munich this summer.”
After Mane left, the Reds signed Darwin Nunez from Benfica for an initial fee of £67.5 million this summer.
Do Liverpool need another new forward this summer?
In addition to tying Mohamed Salah down to a new contract, the Merseyside giants also let Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino leave Anfield in pursuit of more consistent playing time.
The season will be affected by the World Cup in Qatar later this year, so the six-time European winners may need to bring in another attacker before the summer transfer window closes.
In addition to Nunez and Salah, the Reds’ recognized forwards include Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz.
It remains to be seen if the Anfield team would dip into the market once more for an attacker.
