Transfer News: Jorge Mendes Offers Ronaldo To Barca, Chelsea Table Improved Bid For De Ligt

Barcelona discuss a move for Cristiano Ronaldo

According to reports, Barcelona is considering a move that would shock the football world to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, a former fierce rival. The former Real Madrid player was Barcelona’s most dreaded foe for nine years before moving to Juventus and coming back to Old Trafford last summer.

However, Spanish publication AS is now claiming that Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta in Barcelona with several transfer options “on the table” and that these choices reportedly include United’s star striker.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Football Italia), Chelsea has submitted a direct cash offer of €80 million/£70 million for the 22-year-old, which may not satisfy his release clause (€120 million), but may be sufficient for Juventus to accept. According to the article, Juventus is asking for €90 million, but earlier rumors had suggested that a transfer for between €70 and €75 million was a strong possibility.

De Ligt will likely leave Juventus before the summer transfer window slams shut, the Serie A giants are keen on making a good profit from his sale. Although most people believe De Ligt prefers Chelsea, his inclination seems to be weaker than Raphinha’s affinity for Barcelona.
