UCL: Mane overtakes Drogba to become the highest scoring African in the knockout stages of the UCL.

Senegal international striker Sadio Mane helped his Liverpool side to progress to the finals of the UEFA champions league. The AFCON winner was on the score sheet as his Liverpool team struggled to beat Last season’s Europa league winner Villarreal by 3-2 (5-2 on aggregates). His winning goal was his 15th goal in the knockout stages of the competition, therefore over taking Chelsea and African Legend Didier Drogba to become the highest goalscoring African player in the knockout stages of the Champions league. Former Ivory coast international Drogba scored 14 goals during his playing time in the knockout stages.

Sadio Mane has now reached the Champions league finals on more occasions than the legendary Drogba who reached the finals with Chelsea in 2008 and 2012 respectively. Drogba lost his first finals in 2008 and later won in 2012 puting up a heroic performance against Bayern Munich.

Sadio Mane will now be hoping to win his second UEFA champions league title with Liverpool in Paris.
